Some bloody decent, chunky stuff here. Hadra’s previous stuff had all been a bit manic for me, but with this release they’ve taken a couple of steps back – and all for the better.
If anything, this sounds like golden-era 3D Vision: the on-form Rastaliens do incredibly well with Dirty Pigs, and Painkiller’s Transparent Objects is a gritty delight.
The melodies on Electro Nation’s TB Land are a ray of sunshine, and Atomic Pulse benefits from Silicon Sound’s surprisingly restrained mastering. What’s also great is Alien Project doing Stereo Bianco, proof positive that his sound hasn’t evolved one iota since we last heard from him – I’m not sure what to make of that.
In short, a delight: this is worth checking if you like edgier, rougher psytrance that doesn’t go the way of the Azax; particularly if you’re old enough to remember getting excited by 3D Vision’s whiteknuckle compilations.
