I don’t know much about this release, but let’s see… Nine tracks, and it showcases the generally more anthem-y, fluffy side of this summer. Beat Hackers open proceedings with 70’s Solo… their trademark stuttered sound goes nicely with what appears to be some old Perfecto Fluoro noises (really), and then a cute high-end melody comes in, that should be cheesy but somehow isn’t. Protoculture’s Neuro Pop is a delight; recognised heaps from this summer, it’s one of his best tracks yet. Blissful summery vibes, smooth melodies and key changes to die for. Utterly inspirational, though I should perhaps add that I listened to this in the warm sunshine in my private walled roof garden supping a martini, under which circumstances ANYthing is going to sound pretty damn good. Fatali’s More is beefy and uplifting at once, though something’s not quite right about it and it seems to sort of limp its way through it’s allotted seven and a bit minutes. Beat Hackers’ Game Over g ets remixed by Bizarre Contact, and what a great remix it is. BC has made it much more fluid, the melodies are layered nicely and once again there’s a positive, uplifting groove without a hint of Edam. Electro Sun vs. Quantic Fusion are up next with Enigmatic, which builds into a breezy and melodic midsection, yes folks it’s firmly morning music with a tag reading “sunrise anthem” squarely tied to its big toe. Menog’s Odd Sensations is, by contrast, a heady cauldron of menacing twisting dervish door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesmen trance, halloween-y and mulchy. Next up is Vibe Tribe’s remix of Bizarre Contact’s Frequencies,  a real winner of a remix of a real winner of a track. More anthemia than the original, with succulent chord changes and swirls aplenty… yum. Electro Sun’s Move On is fairly standard, with melodic tickles that are nice enough, but the tune’s a little too stop/start/stop/start and the overall effect is pretty braindead. Finally Way Out from Quick Sand is a 100bpm, mandatory downtempo slot wasted on some vaguely glitch beats, a clarinet, some chanting… too many ideas and an awkward sound. So what’s the deal then… One belter, one pretty excellent, four others worth a poke. It’s a decent enough slice of the fluffier end of this summer’s dance floors.
