Brazilians, eh? Fine football, fine women, and, as we’ve been randomly referencing here at psyreviews, a pretty meaty trance scene. Fitting then, that this album is compiled by DJ Felo, one of Brazil’s biggest trance DJ’s. 10 tunes on offer, that showcase a pretty neat sound, all helped alongby DJ Bog’s smooth mastering. Setherian cs Lox kick off with Psychotic Mainframe, stat starts subtle and ends up hooking you right in. Pixel vs Sub 6’s One Shot starts out deep, and builds into an anthem-led groover, which brings in nicely to Uriel’s Let There Be Light – a tricky little tune, with a fair few breaks, but some utterly killer lines that make this worthy of a slot in your case logic. Vibra’s Abstract has one of the nicest novelty basslines in a while, though to be fair it doesn’t have a bustin’ lot else. Sesto Sento’s Sestomentos (remixed here by Star X) is as floaty as the colaboration promises, a certain tune to stick in your head after a night out. Wrecked Machines vs Star X’s Conteiner (sic) is simply an orgasm – a nice buildup to a dreamy breakdown, and then something happens that’s beyond the scope of the tune itself... luvly. Intelabeam’s feeling tropy (sic, again) takes things a little too far over the cheese boundary for this reporter’s liking, and with Lish’s Slow Me Away closing the cd in a vehemently chummy-morning-ave-a-cuppa-tea fashion, it’s all covered across seventy odd minutes. All in all a nice collection, albeit with a few holes here and there. But most significantly, with the blend of progressive and psychedelic that’s on offer here, compact’s sound is evolving into something rather special.
