Chi AD
Liquid Neon Sky / Book Of Eden
Ektoplazm Records (ektoplazm.com)

A big welcome back to Chi-AD, who you may have missed if you’re a recent sweeping addition to the lovely world of psytrance, but in a nutshell was behind some of the most soaring melodic whiplash psytrance EVER, but who never really got the commercial recognition he deserved. Now he’s back courtesy of the wonderful chaps at www.ektoplazm.com, that website probably the only place you’ll find this: true underground gems are like three in a bed lovin’ action – damn difficult to find, but damn worth it when you do (and a Chi AD record is cheaper.) Liquid Neon Sky does exactly what it says on the tin, escalating into a huge no-holds-barred psychedelic frenzy, with more melodies than you’ll find on some entire albums and a crescendo that’s nothing short of a DIY e-rush. Book Of Eden is just like old grandma goa used to make, look there’s even an eastern key change, swirling lines aplenty and the mother of all goan riffage. Building up into a seriously chunky arms in the air monster, I will stake my genitalia on this being one of the finest, finest, finest goa tunes ever recorded by man or alien. No, actually, it’s the best piece of music ever recorded in the history of sound. Stop moaning about the lack of the ‘awakening’ Goa-style music around, sniff this out, and grin till it’s way past your bedtime. Phenomenal.
