Global Eyes 03
Global Eyes (Australia)
There’s something very switched-on about all this; it’s almost like there’s a thread of resonance and positive philosophy going through the product, and the music is only a little part of it. Or, to explain in slightly more useful terms, as well as a CD you get some wicked and wall-friendly postcards from leading digital artists; a wall calendar with seriously stunning artwork and key festival / industry dates; a directory of global resources for the trancehead (which psyreviews isn’t in because psyreviews split up with psyreviews’ girlfriend when psyreviews should have been sorting some copy for globaleyes, sorry andrew) and, sharing a spine with the directory, a wickedly enjoyable Handbook featuring articles, art, stories and various sidelines from veryone to do with the scene. Most impressive of which, and that brought a tear to my eye, is Kelly Chandler’s piece on Collective Consciousness that seriously blows you away. Music wise, it’s a ten track CD ranging from smooth psychedelic dub to wobbly lysergic stop-the-ride-i’m-going-to-be-sick trance, kicking in with lazy dubby house and deep psychedelic electro (trust me, it exists!) The overall package is superb, you’re buying the product of a lot of love and attention and it’s so important for the global scene, even transcending its Australian base. Maximum Respecticus, as they say in Latin.
